Gone are the days of worn-out tights and old, loose tees. With the advent of athleisure, we now have so many choices for trendy, chic clothing, so they’re well worth the expense. But what about ensuring their freshness and longevity? Here are some handy tips to keep them clean for longer.
1. Sports bras
Wash your sports bra after every workout. You can take it with you into the shower, and let it air dry. Don’t use heat to dry your bras, as it can wear out the fabric faster.
2. Moisture-wicking tops
As you know, dark tops tend to last longer, as they don’t show discoloration and sweat patches as much as white or gray tops do. However, don’t forget to lather and rinse your sweaty tops to get rid of any patches from deodorant or sweat
3. Spandex leggings
Before putting them in the washing machine, turn them inside out, as most of the sweat and bacteria is on the inside. For those difficult places, you can directly apply detergent or soak it for an hour or so. Let them air dry, which is best for all of your workout clothes.
No matter how tired or lazy you feel, don’t throw your sneakers in the wash. For the exterior, you can scrub them with soap and water by using a toothbrush. If needed, you can lightly clean the inner soles and let them air dry, but never keep your sneakers near a heating vent or dryer. You can also replace the shoelaces as needed, and you can place a few unused teabags in your shoes to get rid of bad odors.
