Several things (such as kids, work, and relatives) can get in the way of nurturing your relationship. But no matter how hectic your life is, you should still do few little things to keep your relationship alive and unbreakable. Of course, all couples are different, but here are a few tactics that every couple could try together at least once a year to help their bond grow stronger:

1. HAVE A PROPER DISCUSSION ABOUT FINANCES

Of course, you have an idea about each other’s accounts, salaries, balances, and investments. But it’s best to have a proper discussion about your financial goals (long and short-term). It also gives you an opportunity to recalculate everything. For instance, perhaps your emergency savings or kid’s college fund is running low.

2. HAVE THAT HUGE BLOWOUT FIGHT

Yes, we know that you’ve repeatedly asked your husband not to put a wet towel on the bed, but he still does it. Thus, if you want to shout, go ahead. Don’t hold it in. For sure, things are going to get nasty, but it’ll also let you both hash things out, and you’ll eventually grow as a couple.

3. HAVE SEX IN WEIRD PLACES

Try it in the bathroom, kitchen, or the dressing room of the mall. Whatever gets your funk on!

4. MAKE NEW COUPLE FRIENDS

Did new neighbors just move in? Ask them out on a double date. If it works out, you’ve got a new set of friends, who probably won’t be grossed out by your PDA.

5. BINGE WATCH A SHOW

What’s better than settling into your couch with a warm blanket and your man next to you, and binge-watching the new season of your favorite show?

6. SET A JOINT GOOGLE ALERT FOR YOUR DOCTOR’S APPOINTMENTS

It’s important to ensure that your physical health is on point. Keep tabs on each other, and remind each other of your respective appointments. Then you’ll make sure that neither one of you has a snag.

7. SET THAT CLEAN-OUT DATE

He surely has a few t-shirts that he never wears, and you might have dresses that you now keep for sentimental reasons. So schedule a weekend to clean out your closet. A little extra space will do you both some good.

8. PLAY HOOKY FROM WORK

Sometimes it’s good to just leave town with your partner, and go for an adventurous day trip that no one knows about.

9. TREAT YOURSELVES ON AN NON-ANNIVERSARY DATE NIGHT

You don’t have to break the bank, but it’s good to treat yourselves to a good dinner, shopping, or a weekend away. Sometimes, a little time together is all you need to bring back that spark, and keep the relationship exciting and alive.
